Made in Canada Not Working: Best Alternatives to Made in Canada Kodi Add-on

Made in Canada was, for several years, one of Kodi’s best resources for live TV, live sports, and IPTV streams from around the world. Users turned to it for everything from new movies to the latest hockey games, all thanks to its easy to use interface and reliable collection of streams. Unfortunately, in early 2018 the add-on abruptly shut down. No explanation was given, only that Made in Canada was dead, and its creator would no longer support the add-on for the foreseeable future.

When Made in Canada stopped working users scrambled to find the best alternatives. Replacing such a landmark add-on wouldn’t be easy, however. Fortunately, we have done the hard work for you, and have found the most reliable Kodi add-ons that let you stream live TV and live sports from any device. Keep reading for the top alternatives to Made in Canada.

Stay Anonymous with a VPN

Keeping your data secure online is more difficult than ever these days. Companies are fighting to control your information and are willing to do whatever it takes to discover what you’re watching or which websites you’re surfing on the internet. Kodi users are under particularly strong scrutiny, as the software is often used to access pirated content, prompting ISPs to start throttling connections just for launching the Kodi app.

You can keep yourself safe from these invasions of privacy by installing a good VPN and running it each time you access streams on Kodi. Virtual private networks encrypt each packet of data before it leaves your device, preventing third parties from gaining access to see its contents or origin. This keeps you safe and anonymous no matter what you do, allowing you to use the internet as you see fit.

Choosing the right VPN is a difficult task. We’ve made it easier by providing a recommended service below.

IPVanish – Best VPN for Kodi

IPVanish has an incredible set of privacy and security features that make it a prime choice for using with Kodi. It comes with lightweight software compatible with smartphones, TV boxes, and desktop PCs, and its network of over 950 servers in 60 different countries is incredibly fast, perfect for HD movie streams and live content. Your data is kept safe with DNS leak protection and an automatic kill switch, along with both 256-bit encryption and a zero-logging policy on traffic for full online anonymity.

For speed test results and more security features, check out our full IPVanish review.

IPVanish offers a 7-day money back guarantee which means you have a week to test it risk-free. Please note that Addictive Tips readers can save a massive 60% here on the IPVanish annual plan, taking the monthly price down to only $4.87/mo.

Pre-Installation Concerns

Before we start looking for a good alternative to Made in Canada, we’ll need to do a few quick maintenance tasks on Kodi, just to make sure everything is ready to go.

What Did it Do?

Made in Canada had a little bit of everything. It’s most popular feature was arguably its selection of IPTV streams. Users could access a huge variety of live content directly from the Kodi interface, including Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) news feeds and IPTV channels from the U.S., UK, and Canada.

Sports was another popular function of Made in Canada. The live game and event streams included a huge selection of sports and sources, everything from hockey to soccer, football, basketball, and baseball. All you had to do was jump on MiC, pick a high quality stream, then let the entertainment begin.

Should I Remove Made in Canada?

Whenever a Kodi add-on is shut down, it’s always a good idea to remove the files from your devices. There’s very little chance most of these add-ons will spontaneously come back to life. If the original creator resumes development, you’ll hear an official announcement and find links to its new repository. The old repo and sources could be hijacked by another team of coders, which could put your device at risk. It’s better to uninstall it entirely and look for an alternative.

Need some help removing old add-ons? Check out our guide on how to uninstall Kodi add-ons the right way.

Allow External Sources

Kodi can manage and download repositories on its own. In order to do this, you need to toggle a quick setting to allow external sources to be accessed. This is necessary for installing any kind of third party content, including alternatives to Made in Canada. Follow the steps below to change the setting.

  1. Open Kodi and click on the gear icon to enter the System menu.
  2. Go to System Settings > Add-ons.
  3. Toggle the slider next to the Unknown sources option.
  4. Accept the warning message that pops up.

Before Installing, Secure Your Device with a VPN

We really can’t stress enough the importance of running a VPN with Kodi. Not only does it keep your information safe, it also prevents ISPs from flagging your account as a potential source of piracy. VPNs are crucial for everyday browsing and absolutely essential for Kodi streams. See our recommendation above for the fastest and best VPN to use with Kodi, then install the VPN and run it in the background each time you launch Kodi.

Is it Safe to Install Kodi Add-ons?

The Kodi media center software itself is completely free, safe, and legal to use. It doesn’t contain or provide direct access to any content that’s even remotely questionable in nature, making it a fantastic app for watching your own movies or streaming live TV from official add-ons. Because Kodi allows third party add-ons, however, the nature of these rules is often bent somewhat.

For the most part, add-ons and repositories for Kodi are perfectly safe to use. As long as you stick to official content you’ll never have to worry about breaking any laws or accidentally installing malware. Using official content is a little scarier, however, but if you only access reliable repos you’ll generally be ok.

Taking basic security precautions is always a good idea, of course. Keep your virus scanner active at all times, and make sure your operating system’s firewall is switched on, as well. Also make sure your VPN is active and connected each time you look for add-ons or run Kodi itself.

Disclaimer: Unofficial Kodi add-ons may access videos and streams that are unlawful to view in your area. Addictive Tips does not condone piracy or any attempts at circumventing content regulations using Kodi, VPNs, or other methods.

Black Ghost

Black Ghost is a newer add-on that focuses on live streams from around the world. Black Ghost also comes with a selection of popular on-demand content so you can catch up on big-name shows at your own convenience.

How to Install Black Ghost

Black Ghost is featured in the Canal Nereo repository, a huge collection of repos and streaming add-ons. You’ll need to install Nereo first, followed by the Black Ghost add-on itself. The instructions below will guide you through the process from beginning to end.

  1. Open Kodi, go to the main menu, then click the gear icon.
  2. Go to File Manager then click on the Add Source link at the bottom.
  3. Click where it says <None>, then add the following URL exactly as it appears: http://canalnereo.com/canalnereo/REPOS
  4. Click OK. On the next window, enter an easy to remember name for the repo, such as canalnereo, then click OK. Kodi will automatically add the repo to your sources list.
  5. Go back to Kodi’s main menu and select Add-ons.
  6. Click the box icon at the top, then choose Install from Zip File.
  7. Select the repo you added above from the list.

  9. Once the repository is added, choose Install from Repository.
  10. Scroll through the list and select the entry marked Repo Canal Nereo.
  11. Enter the folder named Video add-ons.
  12. Choose Black Ghost from the list and install it.
  13. When the installation is complete, you can access Black Ghost from the main add-ons menu at any time.

What’s on Black Ghost?

Black Ghost can be confusing the first time you launch it. The navigation menus are often unclear, with multiple overlapping categories and folders that simply make no sense. To top it off, many of the entries are in Spanish. You can peruse the contents without much hassle, however, which lets you get a feel for the contents pretty quickly.

The most important section on Black Ghost will be the folder marked IPTV. Scroll down and select this, then you’ll see a second list of IPTV sources and streams. Here you can check out both manual and unsorted, automatic lists of sources for all kinds of strange and unique content from around the world.

If sports are more your thing, dive into DailyPlaylist SPORTS. You’ll be taken to a collection of premium and IPTV playlists sorted by date, then channel. This should let you find everything from BeIN HD sports content to ESPN, Sky, and so much more.

Conclusion

Made in Canada was one of the best ways to watch live sports and live TV on Kodi. Its loss was a blow to the community, but fortunately there are several great alternatives that can help you keep the streams going day and night.

How to Sideload Apps on Smart TVs

One of the great things about having a smart TV rather than a standard television is that you can install new apps and software to unlock expanded functionality. And, now that most smart TVs run on the Android platform, there are more apps than ever available for these devices. Features can include everything from performing calculations to file transfers to streaming content.

Before you start configuring your smart TV, there are two distinct types of Android systems you need to be aware of.

  1. The standard Android OS, which is found on most smartphones and tablets and has a massive range of apps available for it.
  2. Android TV, which is a version of the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) optimized for use on smart TV and displaying at a large resolution.

Of the two, Android TV is used far less than its ubiquitous mobile counterpart. Unfortunately, this means that the selection of apps natively available to smart TVs can be somewhat disappointing. But worry not! It’s easy to install regular Android apps on Android TV via a process called “sideloading”. In this article, we’ll explain what this process entails and then provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to sideload apps on smart TVs.

What Is Sideloading?

When you install an app on Android, you typically open up the Play Store, search for the app you want, then install it with a single tap or click. This is the quickest, easiest, and safest way to install an app onto your device. However, as we mentioned before, the selection may be limited if you’re using a niche platform like Android TV. This is because app developers must create a special version of their app to make it work properly on both Android TV and stock Android.

This is a lot of extra work, so many developers don’t bother when the market isn’t big enough to justify the effort. But that doesn’t mean that Android apps won’t work on your Android TV! Many apps will work just fine on both version, though you may experience some issues with scaling or compatibility.

It’s all made possible through sideloading which, in the simplest of terms, refers to any installation process that doesn’t use the Play Store interface. This isn’t a form of hacking or cheating the system, either, as developers will often provide .apks to beta testers with the express intention of installing it before it hits the Play Store. In fact, this freedom is an integral aspect of Android’s open-source environment.

Are There Risks When Sideloading Apps?

When you sideload an app, you are granting it permission to access the nuts and bolts of your device’s operating system and hardware. Because the software has not yet been vetted and checked by the Play Store, you need to exercise elevated levels of caution and discretion. Sideloading a dodgy file could mean handing the keys to your privacy and personal data over to hackers and criminals.

This is especially a problem with apps that have downloaded illegally for free via torrents or other unofficial channels. If you are going to sideload an app, you need to be absolutely sure that you trust the place that you got the installation file from. You should be careful to only ever use .apk files from known and trusted sources when you sideload an app.

How To Sideload An App On A Smart TV

Before beginning the sideloading process, there are a few steps you must take to prepare your device. Once those are completed, you have two different methods to actually install your software.

First Enable Unknown Sources And Install Essential Apps

The Unknown Sources option controls whether or not your Android device will allow the installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store, so we need to enable this first. We also need to install a couple of apps to make the sideload process easier: a sideload launcher to let you access your apps once you’ve installed them, and a file manager to make it easier to browse the files on your device.

How to enable Unknown Sources:

  1. Start off on your Android TV’s home page
  2. Navigate to the Settings menu
  3. Go to the Personal tab, and find the option for Security (this can be in different locations depending on the system. You might find it under Security & Restrictions)
  4. You’ll see a setting for Unknown sources. Make sure that this is toggled On
  5. Now you’ll be able to install apps from sources other than the Play Store!

Next you need to install software that lets you access the apps that you are going to sideload. You can use a verified app like Sideload Launcher – Android TV.

It also helps to have a file manager app so that you can view and copy files on your Android TV. We recommend an app like File Manager + which is free and can be installed from the Play Store.

Make a final check to ensure you have:

  • Unknown sources enabled
  • Sideload launcher installed
  • File manager installed

With each item on that list checked off, you’re ready to start sideloading apps onto your Android TV!

Method #1 – Install Apps From Your Browser

There’s a quick and easy way to install apps onto any of your Android devices right from your web browser. This doesn’t always work, as it depends on whether the app has official support for Android TV, but it’s worth a shot.

To do this, browse for the app you want on any web browser on any device. As long as you are logged into your Google account, you’ll be able to send apps from your browser to your Android device for installation. Here’s what to do:

  1. Using another device, like your computer, open up your web browser of choice
  2. Go to the Google Play Store
  3. Search for the app that you want using the search bar at the top of the page
  4. Once you’ve found the app you want, click on it to bring up the app information page
  5. If you don’t have this app installed on your current device, you’ll see a green button that says Install. Click on this
  6. You’ll be promoted to log into your Google account. Log in as usual
  7. Now you’ll see a window with a drop down menu where you can see the names of all of your Android devices. Select your smart TV from the drop down menu, and click Install
  8. You’ll see a notification that the app will be installed on your smart TV. Click on OK
  9. Now power on your smart TV and make sure that it’s connected to the internet. After a minute or two, the software will be installed on your device and become ready to use

If this doesn’t work and you see a message that the app is incompatible with the device you selected, then try the next method below.

Method #2 – Sideload Apps Using A Flash Drive

The second way to sideload an app onto your smart TV is to use the USB port. If your device has a full size USB port then you can install files from a standard flash drive, but if you only have a micro USB port then you’ll need an adaptor or a hard drive that uses micro USB to transfer your files.

Here are the instructions:

  1. Find the .apk file for the app that you want to install. As we mentioned before, you want to be very careful to only use .apk files from sources that you trust. One popular site for downloading apps that is generally considered trustworthy is https://www.apkmirror.com/
  2. Download the .apk file onto your computer and copy it to a flash drive
  3. Plug the flash drive into your smart TV
  4. You should see a notification that lets you open the flash drive to view its content on your Android TV. Make sure that you have a file manager app installed and open the flash drive folder to view the files
  5. Find the .apk file and select it
  6. Now click on Install
  7. The installation process will begin. Once it is complete, you can use the Sideload Launcher app to launch the new app you just installed

Recommended Precaution – Use A VPN To Protect Yourself When Sideloading

If you’re going to sideload apps onto your smart TV (and especially if you’re going to install apps from legally grey sources) then you should take steps to protect your device and your network from malicious code and hackers. One of the best ways to do that is to install a VPN onto your Android device. A virtual private network encrypts all of the traffic that your device sends and receives over the internet, making it very difficult (if not impossible) for outside observers to intercept, view, or steal your sensitive information.

In addition to these security benefits, smart TV users will love being able to bypass region locks to access content they otherwise couldn’t. Whether you’re trying to watch BBC iPlayer from outside the UK, or access Netflix catalogues from other countries, a VPN can make it happen. In other words, you’ll get access to a whole lot more content on your smart TV!

Here are two excellent VPNs which offer full support for Android TV devices:

1. ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN is a massively popular VPN due to its combination of fast connections, easy to use software, and high level of security. All the essential features are there, including 256-bit AES encryption, a strict no-logging policy, DNS leak protection, an automatic kill switch, and even an IP address checker.

Their server network is extensive, numbering more than 1500 across 94 different countries worldwide. Super-fast and stable connection speeds thoroughly earn this provider’s “Express” namesake, and provide for an exceptional streaming experience. What’s more, their sleek, lightweight app can be installed on a variety of devices, including Windows, Mac OS, Linus, iOS, some game consoles, and of course Android and Android TV.

These lightning-fast connect speeds don’t come at a compromise to security either. IPVanish offers a generous suite of features, including 256-bit AES encryption, zero logging, a kill switch, DNS leak protection, periodic IP address changes, and robust DNS configuration options.

Conclusion

Whether you’re looking to install an app from the standard Play Store onto your Android TV device, or want to delve into the vast world of flashing bootloaders, kernels and custom roms, sideloading is your ticket. In fact, this valuable skill is an integral aspect of the Android experience, as it enables the wonderful open-source environment that is so lacking in other mainstream ecosystems.

Sure, not every app will work on Android TV, but most of them will install just fine or with only some small issues. Just remember to make sure that the .apk file you use to install the app is from a trustworthy source.

Watch F1 Live on Kodi: Best Add-ons to Watch Formula 1 Online

When you’ve got the need for speed, there’s only one thing that can satisfy it: Formula 1 racing. Watching F1 live on TV can be a hassle though. Cable subscriptions are expensive, availability is never guaranteed, and if you travel abroad, you may not be able to access the stream at all. Fortunately, the open-source media center Kodi provides an elegant solution to these problems. With a little time and the right add-ons, you can watch F1 live on any Kodi-enabled device.

First, Secure Your Connection with a VPN

Kodi is a free piece of software, and it’s completely legal to use around the world, too. Its open-source nature means anyone can create new plug-in content, however, which allows for extensions that access content that could be illegal in your area. This has caught the attention of lawmakers and ISPs alike, triggering increased surveillance and even data throttling for legitimate Kodi users.

You can prevent these unfortunate drawbacks by using a good VPN. Virtual private networks encrypt all of your online traffic, making it unreadable to third parties. Data is routed through the VPN’s non-local server network to remove traces of your identity, as well, which allows you to utilize non-local IP addresses while you stream movies safely and securely.

For more information about which VPNs to try with Kodi, check out our feature article best VPN to use with Kodi, or see our recommendation below.

IPVanish – Recommended for Kodi

If you’re streaming F1 racing, sports, movies, or any online content through Kodi, you need to take a few precautions. IPVanish is the perfect solution to lock down your Kodi streams to make them secure, all while preserving the fast speeds you need for HD streams.

IPVanish runs over 950 servers in 60 different countries, each one offering incredibly fast downloads speeds. Your data is kept secure with 256-bit AES encryption, a zero logging policy on all traffic, DNS leak protection, and an automatic kill switch. You also get completely unmonitored and unlimited traffic with full, private access to torrents, P2P networks, and all of Kodi add-ons!!

Learn more about the benefits of IPVanish by checking out our full IPVanish review.

IPVanish offers a 7-day money back guarantee which means you have a week to test it risk-free. Please note that Addictive Tips readers can save a massive 60% here on the IPVanish annual plan, taking the monthly price down to only $4.87/mo.

Which Add-ons to Use – Official or Unofficial?

Kodi’s add-ons are roughly divided into two categories: official and unofficial. Official content is packaged by the Kodi team and is guaranteed to be high quality, safe, and legal. None of these add-ons access streams that could be pirated, so you know you aren’t breaking any laws if you stick with official Kodi add-ons.

Unofficial add-ons are known to bend the rules a little bit. Many of them are perfectly harmless, but you can run into broken links, poor quality streams, or even illegally obtained videos. You’re taking a slight risk when using unofficial add-ons, so make sure you know the consequences before diving in.

Note: Addictive Tips does not condone or encourage any violation of copyright restrictions. Please consider the law, victims, and risks of piracy before accessing copyrighted material without permission.

Before Installing, Enable Unknown Sources

To gain access to Kodi’s add-ons you’ll need to install them through repositories. Kodi can download and manage these files for you, but you’ll need to quick toggle an internal option before this can happen. Follow the steps below to do just that.

  1. Open Kodi and click on the gear icon to enter the System menu.
  2. Go to System Settings > Add-ons.
  3. Toggle the slider next to the Unknown sources option.
  4. Accept the warning message that pops up.

Watch F1 Live on Kodi – Official Add-ons

There is one official add-on for Kodi that can help you access live F1 racing streams in remarkably high quality. It comes with a few drawbacks, however, including a required subscription with a cable provider. If you meet the requirements you can have fast access to F1 at all times, so it’s worth checking into.

NBC Sports Live Extra

NBC Sports Live Extra pulls content from NBC’s official sports broadcasting sources. The channel is home to everything from NASCAR to the PGA Tour, NHL games, Premier League soccer, the Super Bowl, and the Olympics. The network also broadcasts Formula 1 grand prix events from around the world, which makes it easy to keep up with the latest events from your Kodi device!

Follow the installation guides below to add NBC Sports to Kodi. You’ll need to consult NBC’s F1 broadcast schedule to see when the next event will air, but then you’ll be ready to stream as soon as they begin.

Installing NBC Sports Live Extra

NBC Sports Live Extra is included in Kodi’s official repository, making installation a breeze. You can install the add-on by following the steps below.

  1. Run Kodi, go to the main menu, then choose Add-ons.
  2. Click the open box icon and select Install from repository.
  3. Scroll down and click Kodi Add-on repository.
  4. Choose the Video add-ons category.
  5. Search for NBC Sports Live Extra on the list, then install.

Once the add-on is installed, you’ll need to activate it, which requires an active subscription with a cable provider. Launch the add-on and Kodi will prompt you to pair your device. Follow the instructions below to enable access, then you’re ready to stream.

  1. Visit activate.nbcsports.com
  2. Select your device and cable provider.
  3. Type in your activation code listed in the Kodi pop-up window.
  4. When activated, NBC’s website will redirect you to your cable provider’s login page.
  5. Enter your details and sign in.
  6. Once activation is complete, go back to Kodi, close the pop-up, and start streaming.

Best Unofficial Kodi Add-ons to Watch F1 Live

Kodi’s unofficial add-ons can be unreliable and difficult to use, but if you use the suggestions below, you’ll have a great chance at finding the right streams to watch live F1 racing.

REMINDER: Use a VPN when streaming through Kodi – get 60% off with IPVanish.

Sports365.Live

The somewhat unconventional streaming add-on Sports365.Live is a masterpiece of chaotic minimalist design. It doesn’t feature categories, sortable lists, on-demand sports, or anything of that nature. Instead, you get a flat directory listing of all the live sports broadcasts the add-on currently has access to from around the world, sorted by time. You’ll find everything from rugby to soccer to American football to foreign F1 racing, all dumped into a single screen.

Sure, Sports365.Live is frustrating to browse sometimes, but this minimalism is also its biggest strength. The add-on has a massive amount of variety, including multiple link sources for each broadcast. If you know your Formula 1 event will be on the air at a certain time, check Sports365.Live, it will likely have a decent quality stream you can enjoy.

How to Install Sports365.Live

Sports365.Live is available from a relatively new repository known as Bookmark. First you’ll need to add this repo to your system, then dive inside and look for the add-on itself. The steps below will guide you through the entire process.

  1. Start at Kodi’s main menu, then click on the gear icon at the top of the screen.
  2. Scroll down to File Manager, then choose Add source in the left hand pane.
  3. In the Add File Source window, click in the center where it says <none>.
  4. Type the following repo URL into the box that opens: https://archive.org/download/selflesslite
  5. Click OK, then type a name in the box where indicated. Use something descriptive, like bookmark-repo
  6. Click OK, then return to the Kodi main menu.
  7. Open Add-ons and click the open box icon at the top.
  8. Choose Install from zip file and select the bookmark-repo entry you created above.
  9. Click the file marked repository.bookmark-#.#.zip and wait for the install to complete.
  10. From the open box menu again, choose Install from repository.
  11. Select Bookmark Repository followed by Video add-ons.
  12. Look for the Sports365 add-on in the list, then click to install.
  13. When the download completes, you can access Sports365.Live from the main add-ons menu at any time.

Project Mayhem Sports

Project Mayhem Sports is a great all-around live sports stream add-on. It focuses on broadcasting sources categorized by individual sport, giving you the ability to stream content from Sky Sports, Canal+, Bein, Sky Sport, Pac 12, and other worldwide networks. With it you can tune in to American football, martial arts, fitness videos, and all the F1 racing you want!

How to Install Project Mayhem

Project Mayhem is part of the Maverick repository. To install it, all you have to do is grab the repo, get the add-on, and start streaming. Follow the steps below and you’ll be up and running!

Keep Your UFC Streams Private with a VPN

Before you grab Kodi and start streaming UFC 224, it’s a good idea to check into a reliable VPN. Kodi streams are frequently monitored and throttled by ISPs in an effort to catch online piracy. Even if you use Kodi for purely legitimate content, you could find yourself a victim of these shady practices.

Fortunately, VPNs are an easy solution. They add encryption to each packet of data that leaves your device, making it nearly impossible for anyone to tell what you’re watching or which websites you’re visiting. They also help make you anonymous by replacing your IP address with a non-local one. Running a VPN keeps you protected from a ton of online dangers so you can stream sports, TV shows, and movies in complete privacy.

IPVanish – Fast, Secure, Safe

IPVanish is consistently ranked as one of the best VPNs to use with Kodi. It’s fast, secure, easy to use, and provides just the right balance of features to keep you safe online. With IPVanish you have access to over 950 servers in 60 different countries, and each packet of data is protected by 256-bit AES encryption and a zero-logging policy on all traffic. IPVanish’s software also includes DNS leak protection and an automatic kill switch, making it a great companion for Kodi streamers.

IPVanish offers a 7-day money back guarantee which means you have a week to test it risk-free. Please note that Addictive Tips readers can save a massive 60% here on the IPVanish annual plan, taking the monthly price down to only $4.87/mo.

Best Kodi Add-ons to Watch UFC 224

You need to add the repos first, then find the add-ons individually. This process seems a little complicated at first, but after a few tries you’ll see how easy it is.

Before you begin you’ll need to toggle one of Kodi’s internal options. This allows the program to manage downloads and install new content from outside sources. Follow the steps and you’re ready to begin.

  1. Open Kodi and click on the gear icon to enter the System menu.
  2. Go to System Settings > Add-ons.
  3. Toggle the slider next to the Unknown sources option.
  4. Accept the warning message that pops up.

Note: Kodi’s unofficial add-ons community pulls content from a wide variety of sources, including some streams that may or may not be legal in your country. Addictive Tips does not condone or encourage any violation of copyright restrictions. Please consider the law, victims, and risks of piracy before accessing copyrighted material without permission.

Sports365.Live

Sports365.Live is a glorious mess of a streaming add-on. It doesn’t bother sorting or organizing content in any way, nor does it provide customization options or user-definable filters. Instead, Sports365.Live pulls in a ton of different sports streaming sources, then dumps them in a single list sorted by time. Finding what you want often means sifting through pages of unrelated content, but once you do set your eyes on something worthwhile, you’re almost guaranteed to have a selection of reliable and high quality streams.

Sports365.Live is known to offer streaming UFC content on occasion. Pay per view events such as UFC 224 can also make their way onto the service. There’s no way to know for sure ahead of time, however. All you can do is check the add-on the night of the fight and hope you get lucky. For this reason, Sports365.Live is a good add-on to keep installed as a backup.

How to Install Sports365.Live

FTFA can help, but you may need to do a little work for optimal results. The add-on organizes content by streaming source and channel type, not sport or genre. This means you’ll be browsing sources on a per-channel basis, picking between a wealth of U.S.- and UK-based content that’s easy to watch and in remarkably high quality.

A quick look at the content categories in FTFA:

  • UK Channels – BT Sport, Euro Sport, Sky Sport, and dozens of other channels, some of which air UFC pay per view events and preliminaries.
  • USA Channels – A selection of broadcast and cable channels including CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC, Sportsnet, ESPN, and Fight HD.
  • PPV LIVE –  Pay per view events broadcast as they air, including UFC and other MMA events.

How to Install a VPN on an Android TV Box or a Kodi Box

Today we’re talking to those of you who have purchased an Android TV box or a Kodi box. Both of these are small pieces of hardware which connect to your TV and run on Android software. With such a box you can watch all sorts of content from across the web on your TV screen, and because it is based on the Android operating system, it’s easy to add new apps to extend your box’s functionality. These boxes are a simple, relatively cheap way to watch content on your TV, and you can adapt them for all sorts of functions.

You may have heard recently about a crackdown on Kodi boxes in the UK and in other countries. Although the Kodi software itself is totally legal, as is the hardware it comes installed onto, some versions of these boxes include pre-installed software which allows you to access copyrighted content illegally. It is these illegally pre-loaded boxes which have been causing controversy.

So are you at risk if you continue to use an Android TV box or a Kodi box? Not necessarily, but it depends on what add-ons your box came pre-installed with. In order to be totally safe, it’s a good idea to use a VPN service on your box. Below we’ll talk about why you need a VPN, then we’ll share simple step-by-step instructions on how to install a VPN on your Android TV box or Kodi box.

Are Android TV Boxes or Kodi Boxes Illegal?

As we mentioned above, you can buy Android TV boxes in all sorts of configurations. Often, you’ll find minimal boxes which only have the basic operating system installed onto the hardware. Kodi boxes are similar, but they also have the Kodi media centre software installed on them. Neither of these two types of boxes are illegal as all of the software bundled with them is fully legal, despite what you may read in the papers.

However, you will also find ‘pre-loaded’ Kodi boxes on the market, which are boxes which have a whole bunch of add-ons installed onto their Kodi systems. These add-ons are not created by Kodi, but rather are made by third-party developers as the software is open source. Some of these third-party developers create add-ons which allow you to illegally access content.

A large part of the crackdown on illegal streaming has been against these pre-loaded Kodi boxes, particularly those which allow users to access live streams of sporting events. A recently passed EU law states that it is illegal to sell these pre-loaded boxes as they knowingly allow access to copyrighted content. Technically, if you have a pre-loaded Kodi box, then this is against EU law. However, the legal crackdown has focused on sellers of these boxes, not users.

All of these legality issues might make you understandably nervous. After all, no one wants to receive a threatening letter from their ISP due to them using an Android box. So in order to keep yourself safe, it’s a good idea to use a VPN. This is a piece of software which you install onto your box and which encrypts all of the information that the box sends over the internet. This encryption means that no one can see what content you are accessing with your box, not even your ISP.

Why You Want a VPN for Your Android TV Box

There are several reasons that you might want to use a VPN for your Android TV box, in fact. Here are a few of the advantages:

  1. Avoid throttling. Many ISPs discriminate against certain types or amounts of data usage. If you stream a lot of video, you may see your internet speeds cut dramatically. A VPN will obfuscate your online activity, making it impossible for your ISP to make the call on whether to throttle your connection based on the traffic you’re creating.
  2. Access region-locked content. Many streaming services, like the BBC iPlayer or Comedy Central, offer free content to users in their geographic area, while blocking out everyone else. With a VPN, you can spoof your location by connecting to the site through a proxy server located in the desired country, bypassing these geo-restrictions.
  3. Protect yourself from legal liability. As we mentioned before, you might have bought a pre-loaded Kodi box or you might have installed add-ons to your Kodi installation. Using these add-ons is technically illegal in the EU and if you want to avoid legal risks then a VPN will cover your tracks by encrypting the data you send over the internet.
